I'm sad. I loved this machine for about 6 months, then the burr grinder just randomly stopped working. Expensive paperweight.
Machine itself is fine, but the results have been disappointing. I was hoping for coffee as good as that which is done in my French Press and it isn’t. I added more ground beans, added less water, and set on strongest setting as recommended. Coffee still tastes watery and lacks flavor, but it is better than my drip grind machine does.
Product Review
I rated this product in April and am changing the review to a 1. I love the coffee maker and functionality but the taste was awful. I kept thinking the coffee maker was new and would get better over time. The coffee had a burnt metallic taste. I tried to stick with it and then my guests noticed it. I felt as if the coffee coming out could be harmful to me so I called the manufacturer. They provided a label for me to return the coffee maker. They determined something in fact was wrong and sent me a new machine within 2 days. After cleaning the new machine, it smells and the coffee tastes like plastic. The manufacturer, Jura, wanted me to send the machine back again or advised me to call where I purchased the machine for a refund. I called Dillards to see how they could help. I realize it has been a while so was asking for a store credit. They would not do anything so they have lost a customer.
Our go to coffee maker
We’ve had two of these….for a total of 20 plus years. Great coffee. Our tip…shut it off after brewing and pour into a thermal carafe.
Capresso coffee maker
I have been buying these coffee makers for quite a few years. They don’t seem to last all that long , the last one only lasted just over a year. I figured I’d give it one more shot and then I’ll just move onto a different brand. I wish they had an extended warranty.
A good coffee grinder/brewer
I bought this to replace a 20 year old Capresso coffee maker that served me well until the grinder quit working. This model is somewhat different in the grinding and brewing process, and has an included gold mesh filter basket replacing the paper filters used by the previous model. The brewed coffee is excellent. I give it 4/5 stars only because it is a little tricky to reseat the carafe, and it seems inconsistent when grinding small (2 cup) servings. Oily beans (very dark roast) seem to not feed well for small brews.
A coffee maker that does it all!
This is my second Capresso Coffee Team coffee maker. The first one lasted 15 years.
Very happy with this coffee maker.
I have been buying this brand of coffee maker for years. They lasted a very long time. I made the mistake of buying the last one with the thermal carafe. Big mistake. I turned right around and bought this one again. You cannot reheat with the thermal and you can with the glass. Just program brew only without putting water in, and it will reheat yesterdays coffee. I love my capresso coffee team gs. Hot coffee every morning.
I've had it a week and would definitely recommend. Fits and looks good on my counter. The programmable feature is useful and it's nice to wake up to fresh ground coffee. The machine measures the beans for me, so I just refill it when the beans look low, and has a good grinder. I have to measure the water myself (it will automatically use all the water you put in it!), but that's fine with me. Coffee tastes great!
Love, love, love my Capresso! I have always preferred fresh ground beans for my coffee and having a pot and grinder on the counter was a bit much. This machine does it all and brews perfectly. There are settings for the strength you prefer and you can adjust the strength plus the amount of water you use for your taste preference. Customer service was great! 1st machine stopped grinding a month in and they sent a replacement right away. 3 years later and works perfect!
slightly a-kilter but still makes great coffee.
This is my third Capresso coffee maker in probably 15 years but it doesn't seem as well put together as the previous ones--e.g.; the top to the water tank is off-center and won't close tightly; somehow,a few coffee grounds end on top of the coffee pot lid and subsequently end up in my coffee mug and the carafe will not go easily under the drip stop. In spite of all this, it still make excellent coffee and due to the hassle of returning to exchange for another one, I have kept it.
I’ve been a Capresso user
I’ve been a Capresso user for 16 years. This is my 3rd coffee maker, my last one lasting 13 years. My new Coffee Team GS grind and brew has the same features I’ve enjoyed for so many years. However, I do have an issue with the carafe. The fill measurement marking is only on one side and as a right-handed person holding the carafe in my left hand and filling with my right,, I cannot see the measurement to fill. Other than that small change, it’s the same great coffee maker I’ve counted on for a rich cup of coffee for many years.
Brews SLOW, otherwise okay.
I am a Capresso user for over a decade. This works fine, but it brews slow. When I mean slow, half the speed of my old unit which was 12 or so years old. It looks good, used it for a few weeks, but I even considered returning it due to the brew speed. Disappointed in that, but works and looks good otherwise. Also the top on the pot to remove and clean only goes to a 90- degree angle and I think long term will break taking it on and off.
Dont want to buy anything else
It is simple to use and is by far the best grinder/brewing combo available. It is a perfect size. It fits nicely on any kitchen counter and looks fantastic. There are a couple of drawbacks...the coffee bean reservoir is somewhat small. You can only brew two 10 cup pots before having to refill the bean hopper. As it has a number of moving parts it is a bit of a project to keep it clean. This is especially true for the chute that directs the beans from the grinder to the filter basket. This is the fourth Capresso I have owned over the last 16 years. I have used these machines at least once per day every day. They are well built machines. I just hope that they continue to produce them.
Coffee Team TS doesn't keep coffee hot
I had a Coffee Team glass carafe machine for years until it finally died. Called Jura and they offered a discounted price on a new machine. I opted for a TS (thermal carafe). Very disappointed. Does not brew as hot and the thermal carafe does not keep the coffee very hot. Called them after 7 months of dealing with it. They would not swap it out for a glass carafe system. Best they would do for a loyal customer is $110 to buy a new glass carafe machine. It's time to part ways and go full time to my Keurig. At least it brews a HOT cup! Service just not the same since Jura took over.
Very Best Grind and Brew
I purchased this Capresso Grind and Brew at least 7 years ago. It has worked flawlessly since. Nothing like fresh ground (burr ground) and brewed coffee in my home each and every morning. Easy to use and easy to clean (no extra parts). The reason I am writing this review now is that I broke the carafe this morning :( . If i can not find a replacement carafe I will definitely purchase the exact same machine. By far the best in home coffee maker I have ever used.
So disappointed
Many years ago we had one of the original grind and brew coffee makers by Capresso and we loved it. It made wonderful strong coffee that you could smell when you woke up in the morning. The new coffee maker unfortunately is a real disappointment. First, there is no aroma of any coffee smell when the coffee maker is brewing. Secondly the coffee is weak and if you want strong coffee you have to put less water in and it's still weak. The look of the machine is very nice and it fit's easily under a kitchen cabinet but that's the only good thing I can say about it. I am going to return the machine. I want a real strong cup of coffee and unfortunately this new model doesn't do it. Sorry Capresso. Do a better job on the strength.
Disappointed Veteran Capresso user
We have been happy Capresso users for more than 20 years. When our twice rebuilt Capresso finally fatally failed, we purchased the newest version. Since receiving it we have been regularly disappointed as follows: 1. grinder does not move coffee directly into brewing basket leadibg to much spilled grounds. 2. #of cups of water and #of cups ground do not match. Must grind much more coffee than volume of watter. 3. Coffee pot does not easily fit onto hot plate. It conflicts with drip spot. 4. Grinder regularly clogs. Directions say to clean grinder path weekly. That is too much. Generally, disappointed after so many years of successful Capresso service. Want to return the item but having trouble working with supplyer, NIKO at new-sealed! Have not received return instructions.
This is the best Coffee Maker ever made!
I purchased an earlier model of this Capresso coffee maker many many years ago when Macy's (Hudsons) carried it. What made me make the initial purchase was that the grinder was on top of the unit, and I could just fill it with beans every week or so. The bean unit is away from any areas of moisture. I like to grind fresh bean so this feature was attractive. It also allows you to decide what level of grind you would like. I always set mine on fine grind. I was wavering between this one and a different popular brand. Decided against the other brand because the bean holder was in with all of the moisture and had to be filled, pulled out and rinsed with every brewing. That seemed like a hassle and nearly served no purpose, as a separate grinder would do the same thing with less mess and clean up. Soo... I fell in love with my Capresso. It finally died after about 10 years. I am going to purchase another but I cannot believe that I never see this unit in retail stores. I've purchased other units including a Kureig.. Thought I would love it but don't . Makes coffee too weak and the price per cup is coffee shop prices. I will be excited to have my one true love back on my counter! My Capresso :)
Still going strong after 15 years!
My wife bought me a Capresso coffee maker with built in grinder for Christmas of 1999. I was a little angry at her for spending so much on such an extravangance. I just finished making a pot of coffee in it. I have used it almost every day for 15 years! I have never had an appliance that lasted so long! After all these years it still makes the best coffee I have ever tasted. The only thing I had to replace was the plastic container on the bean hopper and that was because I dropped the machine on the floor. Currently, the handle on the basket that holds the filter is broken, but it still works ( I doubt they even make parts for it anymore). Thats it. My only problem in 15 years. This thing has given me years of service and is still going strong. I don't review things very often but I just had to tell people how wonderful this machine is!
