Have to say the process of purchasing the tub for our bathroom remodel was the worst experience I have ever had buying something online and picking it up in store. The tub was clearly damaged when it was taken off the shelf with the forklift but we did not see it until we got home. Having to take it back and reorder caused a major delay in our remodel.
The bathtub was delivered with a damaged corner, my plumber and contractor agreed it would be ok to install although I’m unhappy that this was delivered in poor condition. In addition, the description for this product was misleading. I was looking at the soaking depth of the tub and was expecting 18” as described, but turns out this is not what they meant by soaking depth. So now I am left with a bathtub that has a 9” max soaking depth.
Actual tub dimensions do not match Home Depot specifications. The overflow and drain are not lined up. Not worth the price for the product. I have been a big fan of American Standard for years but they let me down on this one.
Disappointed
Had this tub installed in 2019 as part of a major remodel. Not sure if improperly installed as the bottom of the tub is too flexible and creeks slightly when moving around. Overall disappointed with this product. Spend some extra money and avoid this tub.
I ordered this tub and it was shipped incorrectly twice. Ordered originally 5/2 and got the second wrong product on 5/22. Cancelled and bought from local source. Can’t review the product because I never got it. Very unhappy with the whole experience!!
Bathtub is narrow
I didn’t know how narrow this bathtub is until I used it. But it is porcelain over steel, which looks a whole lot better than the fiberglass tub & shower combination that it replaced.
Too small, not white
I cannot stretch out in this tub and I’m 5’3”. Tub is too narrow and inside is too short. Tub looks yellowish beige next to my white subway tiles. My decision to purchase this tub as part of my bathroom remodel is one I regret. I will eventually replace it as I can no longer enjoy baths with this tub.
So far so good.
Haven't used the tub yet, as I'm still working on the renovation, but so far really like it. I read a lot of reviews before buying and was a little worried as a lot of them say the porcelain cracks because the installation instructions prohibit setting in mortar. There has apparently been a change in the tub since those reviews were written because the installation instructions I received stated that setting in mortar was acceptable. I purchased the tall version of this tub, so I did not set it in mortar due to the bottom of the tub being roughly 4" off the floor. I did, however, use 3" of polystyrene foam insulation and then filled the rest of the gap with spray foam as recommended by a contractor friend. Hopefully it will provide enough support to prevent any cracking.
So far so good
The box was in good condition but I was still worried the tub would have damage based on other reviews. However, luckily the porcelain has no damage and looks great. I got the regular white (not the Arctic white) and it matches my white toilet perfectly.
Just ok - time will tell
The tub has a "cheap feel" to it but it was recommended by a plumber friend due to durability. Time will tell. The anti slip bottom covers nearly all the flat surface of the tub and the slant toward the drain seems steeper than normal tub. Due to the light weight, installation was exceptionally easy. We elected to set in mortar as I believe not doing so would result in flex due to the construction of the tub.

nice steel tub, with a layer of spray on insulation. But it took three tries to get one that didn't have enamel missing in obvious parts that show (box was perfect, with means it was shipped that way. Another one had a significant dent on the top lip where you put the backer board over, again, perfect box. Opened the third one up at the store and it had a few chips along the top lip, but they will be covered with tile, so I kept that one.
Manufacturing defect
I experienced the same problem noted in other reviews. The tub arrived with a large visible defect in the surface although the shipping materials were intact. We returned it and reordered. Hopefully the replacement won’t have the same problem. This is really disappointing because re-ordering a replacement will set our bathroom reno back a week. I don’t recommend ordering this tub if you are working against a strict timeline. I would expect better quality control from this company.
My contractor recommended the "Americast" product as a lighter-weight alternative to cast iron. It looks and feels just like cast iron, without the weight -- not at all plastic-ey as I had feared. I like that the interior has a decent amount of room, unlike some 60" tubs. Overall, I'm very pleased with the tub.

Relatively easy to install. Instructions were good for setting the stringer height. Needed the extra clearance under the tub for the drain as my tub location puts the drain right on top of a joist. I haven't used for bathing yet as the bathroom isn't finished.

We had to return our original American Standard tub because we didn’t realize it wouldn’t fit our master bath’s unique rough in. We were very glad this one was available. Not sure why it had to be twice as expensive, but whatever. It installed perfectly and is holding up well so far.
great soaking tub like cast iron but light
I reviewed hundreds of tubs before choosing the American standard Princeton and so glad I found it. Build too had the best prices. We got the taller soaking tub and think it was well worth it. I love the oval & simple lines. While 60” you can straiten out legs like in a larger tub size. A beautiful tub and great value!

Unfortunately when the contractor opened the box to begin installing the tub, he found it was chipped pretty bad. It was returned and a new one ordered to replace it. It came a week or so later and again, when the contractor returned to start work again and when he opened the box, it was chipped worse than the first one.
This tub is not the advertised dimensions!
This is a plain jane standard tub. It was purchased because the advertised dimensions state a 27.5" width, which is the only reason $300 extra was spent on this tub over a standard tub. I am renovating an old home with an old metal door frame next to the tub, which is 27.5" wide. I scoured many sites looking for this narrower width tub. I was excited to find this tub to keep the character of the old home intact. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed that the tub is actually 30" wide.
VERY FRUSTRATED!!
Bought this tub for kids bath. It says it is a soaking tub with a height of 17.5 inches. I thought great! Well, that 17.5 inches is the height of the front side. BUT the tub sits 4 inches above the ground!!!! I realize it said water depth being lower to a point but NO WHERE does it say that this tub will need to sit ABOVE the floor 4 inches. We are at the point in renovating the bathroom to install the tub and now we are stopped.
Quality tub!
The tub was installed last week and it looks great! This is our second Americast tub. Unfortunately, the local box stores no longer carry them. But Faucetdirect.com does and at a better price. The finish is so smooth that my painter's tape doesn't even stick to it. Feels exactly like a cast iron tub but at a fraction of the price and weight. Very pleased with American Standard.
