After 1 week of use I'm very satisfied with this fridge/freezer. I have it running on 110 right now but plan to install it on a mobile 12v solar system. It takes some getting used to because of the tall compartments, but repackaging food in bags helps on space. It's very easy to change the temperatures of the compartments. It's pretty quiet. The beep when a lid is open too long is a nice reminder that helps conserve energy. It feels very sturdy although i have a feeling the metal exterior would dent easily, so i plan to keep it stored in a compartment (with adequate air flow).

Love it!

I bought it for a bus build project. Even though I’m not ready for it yet. So I used it when I over bought groceries or the holidays. I contacted the company when I had a minor problem and Angelica was wonderful. I would buy again without a doubt. I can pack at least a couple weeks of groceries in it. Thank you!

So Glad We Have This!

I completed an RV DIY buildout of a 2007 Sprinter. We have used this Whynter Dual Zone unit for three years, running continuously, both daily AC and DC power with absolutely zero issues with it's ability to cool/freeze food. My only issue is the light in the larger compartment has come loose, and when the lid is open for a bit the beeping alarm comes on. I have found I have to wipe the edge of the opening and the top to clear away any potential moisture before shutting the lid.

Blew away expectations! Excellent fridge and freezer. Used in Yukon XL with dual battery set up but it never ran the main batter under 10v running overnight and half of next day before checking. And that wasn’t in Eco mode. Cools and freezes unbelievable fast; literally like a residential unit (faster). Don’t confuse this with the cheap thermoelectric coolers, which I also own and will never use again. Looking forward to taking ice cream treats to the kids summer events this season!

It has been over 100 degrees several days in NE and our fridge in our van has worked great even in economy mode. Ice cream stays frozen, fruit stays fresh, drinks stay cold!

great fridge/freezer combo when traveling!

This unit was purchased to replace a RV refrigerator. The provided 110V plug in and 12V cigarette plug in provide all the power you need. It has separate controls for fridge and for freezer. After initial installation the unit was at the set temperature within one hour. So far it's holding up to demand. I like the eco mode for overnight use. The compartment sizes are plenty for a one person household for 2 weeks, with room to spare. It keeps icecream frozen solid and produce and meats adequately refrigerated. The temperature display is accurate within 2 degrees Fahrenheit. While the compressor is running it uses about 1 Ah. Overnight battery drops from about 13V to about 12.4V on a 180Ah available system with other electronics (phones, tablets, hotspots) charging as well. Over all the unit is better than a RV refrigerator since the cooling system will also perform on a 30 degree tilt. Unlike the RV fridges, which require almost true leveling. Nothing can fall out of the doors since they are top loading.I wired the unit directly into my electrical system (watch your polarity!) without going through a cigarette plug and protected it with a 10A blade fuse (originally protected by 10A glass fuse in the cigarette plug).

I realize a compressor will make noise. Im not sure if there is another out there that is quieter- would like it quieter. Also cant be enclosed, was under the impression i could store it in the counter- slide in and out.

Almost six years old and flawless performance.

Back in early 2015 I installed this unit in a cruising boat. It's built into some cabinetry which Whynter doesn't recommend. I made allowances for ventilation around the back of the unit (where the compressor lives). My boat is also air conditioned and doesn't get hotter than 70 degrees on the hottest summer days. I believe this has helped the unit as it runs less than it might with hotter ambient air temperatures.

FIve years on and it just keeps going.....

I purchased the FM-62DZ in late 2014 and installed it in a cruising boat in the spring of 2015. It's built into a cabinet and is accessed via heavy duty stainless steel slides. The unit can run on AC while I'm docked and DC while underway or at anchor. It has performed flawlessly and I would highly recommend it. It's reasonably energy efficient, quiet and simple to maintain.

living on a boat

I made the small side a refrigerator will hold 32 cans of beer the large size is a freezer. I have 12 quarter pound slices of salmon 15 quarter pound slices of tilapia a dozen beer brats a dozen hamburgers in individual packages and two buckets of ice cream in the freezer side, freezer set at 0 and fridge at 37, have it set to econo mode and the freezer drifts from 0 to 2 degrees, acceptable, I live on a sailboat and this is high efficiency on power, my 700 watt solar panels run this with lightning and TV and 2 fans running perfectly. this is the best freezer I have ever had running on my boat...
