No problems with these locks!

This purchase was for a couple more, since I already have some in use. Build.com does a nice job of fitting the key number to match my existing ones. The batteries last a few years, and it's not too hard to replace the battery when needed.

Just right for the price. This door knob works great for our mandoor. Its nothing fancy, but it performs its function well (without breaking the bank).

Great value; better than expected

lock failure

This is a replacement for one of three that were installed on outside wood gates that had failed due to the weather. The lock got wet behind the electronic portion of the lock and the batteries were corroded in less that 6 months after the install and it failed. The other two are fine so far and will try to seal around the lock to prevent water from getting behind it.

extra convenience and easily installed

easily installed, extra security for door between garage and house. We would always just leave that door unlocked, in that we passed through there many times daily. So we didn't want to carry a key for unlocking, even when we left home, figuring that the closed garage door was sufficient deterrent. There is no deadbolt on the door, and didn't want the expense of having the metal faced door drilled by a locksmith to install a deadbolt. This seemed like the perfect solution for now, until the Encode Plus smart deadbolts are more readily available.

Use a key code for easy entry!

The coloring of the photo is not terribly accurate. The actual lock matches the other brand's nickel products. It is sturdy and easy to program. The inside of the lock can be switched to always be open, or to lock automatically when you leave. We placed a bolt on top of the keycode lock for additional protection. Programming was easy, and took us about 5 minutes to figure it out and complete. You can program a special code for your housekeeper or pet sitter, which is different than your own. You can change the code in a flash. We placed these in 3 of 6 doors that lead to the outside, including the garage door. You can

Doorknobs comes off

FYI, I installed the Schlage electronic door set exactly by the instructions and the outside doorknob came off. I reviewed the instructions and reinstalled it. When I tried to use it again the doorknob came off again. The instructions showed installing the outside knob with the two indentions on the side where the snap device you compress with the special tool is located. That is incorrect, you should install the side of the knob where the cutout is located on the side with the snap device. I have had no problems since. Perhaps Schlage should revise their installation instructions to reflect this.

I would definately recommend! I think it would be better if you could customize the code which you may be able to do but it certainly wasn't apparent. Also to change the battery seems like its going to be quite a job. You will need to take the lock apart. That's a bit too much but it seems to be working very well and holding up nicely so far. Very reliable.

Schlage Keyless Entry

I bought this for my daughter's newly purchased home because it is the same model I have on my house. We both like this lock for the way it looks and being keyless is really a nice feature. I also purchased the corresponding deadbolt and installed them both. However, the holes on the door were not separated far enough and both locks could not be installed properly. I had to install one of them upside down in order to get them both to fit.

This is a five-star product functionally. Its flex-lock is a very helpful option. I have converted all my house door locks to Schlage products as I like their quality build and effective operation. But, for this product ... I'm deducting a star for the hassle in attaching the outside door knob (and others have also noted this problem). Still wrestling with it after an hour, may just super-glue it into place. Inner door knob was attached in ten seconds. Also deducting a star due to 1) the installation instruction (even the online one) showing a lever, not the differently sized knobs of this product and 2) only one key provided. For a product of this cost ... the knob installation difficulty and the missing/incomplete materials are unacceptable. edit: bumped stars from three to four as finally got outside knob attached thanks to a strong flashlight and magnifying glass so as to better see that I was pushing the wrong tab on the shaft.

Great lock

We love it! I installed this on a door from our garage to the back yard. So much easier now to get from the yard into the garage. My husband thought it was silly at first but by day one he was sold and asked me to install another one on the door going from the garage into the house. The installation was easy, directions very clear. I wanted a keyless entry that also has a key option. I had this locked keyed the same as the other locks in my house, so if the battery dies I can still get into the house. I highly recommend this product.

I love this lock. I had the standard door lock but was hesitant to lock it and take my keys along on my hikes fo fear of losing then on the trail . On the other hand, didnt want to leave my house open. The lock was easy to install and works perfectly. It automatically locks when you close it so you cant forget. It also has an over ride, if you want the door to stay unlocked. You can program multiple codes. Its very good looking, great quality, and not overpriced.

I love this door lock. Its my second and it works perfectly every time. I bought my first one about five years ago. Its my exterior door lock. Sunny days, cold nights, rain; doesn’t matter. It always works. Installation is easy. The gold finish gives it a nice touch.

UPDATE: After I finally got the door knob on we decided to keep the lock. It took 10 seconds to install one knob and 45 min to install the other. Its sad that they didn't provide accurate instructions for the lock. First off, this product did not even look brand new. It came in a brown box with fingerprints all over it. Maybe a factory refurb. COULD NOT EVEN GET THE OUTSIDE KNOB TO GO ON OR STAY ON AT ALL.////////////worse instructions i'v ever seen!!!!!!!!! I could go on and on but I don't have the time. The only thing I dont like is you have to take the whole lock apart to change the battery. Well see in time whether thats a few months or a few years. Everything else about the lock is really nice. Other oddity is the clearance between the knob and the keypad is a little tight. You can get your finger jammed in there. I guess thats why these are more commonly seen with levers instead of knobs. My favorite thing is this model is always locked. Theres no way to leave it unlocked so we never have to guess whether we left the back door unlocked again.

They work fine but schlage dropped the ball on the instructions. Purchased 3 of these with knobs (NOT LEVERS) and all instruction sheets were only for lever handle. There NO directions or description explaining how to attach the KNOB on the instruction sheet? And knob throats are different lengths so should the long knob be inside or outside? And I did speak to a customer service rep at their 888# and she did not have a clue!

The lock set I received from HD was dirty and grimy with some foreign substance on the brass metal (maybe oil). The brass finish was all scratched up. And there were parts missing. The items were not properly packed, but just dumped into a cardboard box with some Styrofoam. It was obvious that this was a returned unit from a previous customer that was repackaged and sent to me as new. I immediately returned it to store 3609 for a refund. The next day, I called several people at HD Corporate, and was finally helped by Chanda Dailey. I sent her pictures of the box and the contents, and she helped me out. She is to be commended for her understanding and helpfulness.

Good, but the finish on used numbers wears too easily

We really love our schlage locks and have them on two properties. The ease of use for us and our family, and longterm friends/guests makes it convienient and less expensive than trying to make and keep track of multiple sets of keys. That said, we have only had the locks for a year, and the used buttons are already scratched from wear, meaning that a bad person could probably guess the four button code pretty

I got this Schlage FE575 lock to replace my garage door lock. I was tired of carrying a key every time I come out to the garage as I work on the cars or cut the lawn. This lock replaces the old Schlage lock perfectly and it is convenient that I don't need to carry a key to get back into the house. Now, I can practically go out for a biking trip or a run without carrying any key. I can get into the garage using the garage keypad and the door with this lock. I like the fact that this lock locks itself behind me and I only need to key in the code to open it. My Schlage front door keyless deadbolt does not do that, I have to turn the knob to lock it. I think the difference is that this lock is always locked inside and open via the keypad. I'd not use this lock as the front door lock because it is not a deadbolt. There is another version FE595 of this Schlage lock that has selectable lock/unlock lever when you close the door.

[Rewarded Review] Works Perfectly

I purchased this lockset to use at the backdoor of a new commercial building. Everything works great and installation was similar to most standard locksets. The only downfall, I couldn't tell for sure if it required a double bore as the door I used it in was ordered double bore. This is designed for a single bore door! Not a huge issue (I just purchased a standard deadbolt locally and used it in the second bore). This is a very nice lock and I'm sure you will be happy with it.

Fantastic - wish I had bought it sooner

I've wanted this for several years, finally got it because I was tired of having to run up or down 2 flights of stairs every time Hubby came running in from the garage without his keys. Works GREAT ! Easy to install, replaced an existing Schlage product. This unit is protected by a storm door, and is off a covered deck so it's well protected. Easy to reprogram, just pay attention and do everything all at once, you get into the grove that way and it goes faster. Found out by accident hoe to light the keypad for input at night, don't remember reading that in the instructions, probably just missed it. REALLY wish I had bought this sooner, would have made things a whole lot easier. I highly recommend this unit !
