Our tub to shower conversion space was an unusually narrow depth of only 30”, with wall cabinets making it impractical to take shower space out further. This base had the dimensions we required, and is of high quality- very solid, lovely finish, easy to clean, and non- slip. The installer was happy that the drain lined up perfectly with our previous bathtub drain.

I remodeled my bathroom removed the bathtub and installed a walk in shower. The shower base is strong, stylish, and the linchpin to the design. Worth every penny.

It may be heavy to move in but it is a dream to set and due to the nature of the material it will last forever.

The final product does not match the photo. We worked wtih Kohler support to better understand why the photo shows black 'no slip' etching while the delivered product the 'no slip' teching is more white/gray. After a lot of calls we were told that sometimes marketing touches up photos so they look better. But the final product doesn't look like the photo

Just what I was looking for. I searched other places & could not find a shower base that is made of cast iron. It is very well made & solid. My only concern I had was when I was notified of my delivery that it will be left at the front door outside. When it was being delivered I was so relieved, I had asked the two delivery men if they could bring it into the house. The two delivery men were really nice & professional that they brought into my home. I don't know how my husband & I would have been able to bring it in it weights really heavy about 200 pounds. I am so happy & love the look of this shower pan & that it is not made from resin or acrylic that looks cheap & will crack over time.

Dark spots

After using this shower pan one time small black spots are appearing on the smooth surface of the pan. I did not see them while inspecting the pan prior to the install.

Little yellow spots

Need to check carefully before install it. I have some yellow spots that won’t come off. Still giving it five star because it look so good.

Solid Choice - Premium Quality

We chose this base as a part of a complete bathroom re-model. We took out an old bathtub in a 100+ year old building and replaced it with this cast iron base. One of the main reasons for this was the ease of installation and the top quality. I wasn't really interested in doing all the prep work to install a new shower base and this option looked really good. I was super nervous about the delivery, but it was no problem at all. My son and I carried the base up to the bathroom. After preparing the new subfloor and setting the pads for the feet of the base, we set it in place and that was it. We were done. The rest of the remodel was blocking it into place and tiling the shower. The instructions were very good and the quality is awesome. I put some insulation under the base to keep down some of the noise below us, but it's probably not needed. This base is rock solid. My only caution is that when replacing this with older work, the plumbing connections can be a little dicey. Very doable, but takes a little care. We're very happy with the base. Easy to clean and keep looking great.

The cast iron base shower pan is heavy, but was packaged extremely well to prevent damage. The pan, though more expensive than acrylic options, will be easier to clean and much longer “like new” appearance.

Worth the cost.

We purchased this cast iron shower base and had a lot of questions and concerns before we bought it. I hope to address these questions and concerns in this review.

Lovely cast iron Kohler base. Improvement possible

Love the product. Just wish it were about 8 inches wider. By the time you add the shower wall on one side and the shower door on the other side, it's a little narrower than I'd like. I would have happily paid double the price for an extra 8 inches, and triple the price if they could have made it a 48 x 60 size. They also need to work on having a shower wall and a shower door that works with it as a set because that has been a problem.

Solid base but made for shower doors

I bought this and brought it home to replace a cast iron tub which was getting difficult to step into and after looking at the edge in person and doing some more online research I had to return it. The free edge is very low and water would very easily flow over it onto the floor. This base is designed for use with shower doors. I wish the description would have made that more clear. I wanted to use a shower curtain as my bathroom is small and I didn't want it to feel smaller by installing doors on the shower. Sadly, I returned this base. I wish Kohler made a cast iron base that has a 4 inch high curb to keep water contained. I was expecting a squatty bath tub but was left disappointed. I didn't want to go the tile shower base route but that is what I am left with. My shower base was the model that I ordered. The description says drain was included but no drain insert was sent. I wonder if it means it has the hole already cut. I didn't uncrate so maybe the drain was packed under the tub. If not, I would have had to buy a drain insert if I had kept this. The quality of the porcelain was excellent and the base was very sturdy and heavy. I have no doubts that it would have lasted a lifetime.
