Third time's the charm?

This is the second such lock I've purchased, and the third one I've used. The first -- possibly a 1st-generation model -- had cracking on the buttons after a surprisingly short time. It was replaced -- for free! -- by Schlage. That one lasted for perhaps five years before it began to fail: it sometimes wouldn't unlock the door even after the correct code was used. Changing the battery did not solve the issue. So, this is the third one -- third time's the charm?

It worked for only two months. I thought it was the battery. When I tried to change the battery, I saw the wires were frayed with metal sticking out. I did receive a refund for the unit, however I also paid for the installation of the keypad. I don’t know if the unit was defective or was damaged by the installer. But at the end of the day I have a keypad lock that doesn’t work and I now still have to use a key to get into my home. The whole purpose of buying this lock was to be keyless! And now I have to use a key again and I’m out $100.00 for the installation. Make that make sense!!

It costs more, but you get what you pay for.

This lock, unlike other cheaper locks that have negative reviews for failing or wearing out too fast, has almost all 5-star ratings for a reason and I agree. It can use a key if the battery runs out, but, otherwise, the entry code makes life easier. The keypad numbers light up bright blue when you push the top button for night entry. You can also get keys that light up that match this lock. To install it, take your time and do the easy-to-read steps one at a time and you can't go wrong.

Long lasting, dependable Security

We have been using this lock now for three years. Has been very dependable, keys, continue to work, the punch in the code to get in the door, and is very durable in the sunlight. We had a situation where we locked ourselves out of the house, and the batteries were totally drained on this lock. we had a locksmith try to open it, but could not. This is a very dependable lock, the beware that the battery needs to be changed on an annual basis if it is used a lot.

Lock - unlock lever

Had a number of Schlage locks. Quality on this lock is good, but the lever that locks and unlocks the door can be inadvertantly unlocked just by brushing against the lever with your hand. Even though I am conscious of this, once or twice a week I find the door in the unlock position.

Solid, works great. Very happy with the product. It was easy to install and simple to change the battery. Only thing causing my less than perfect rating is that the handles 'snap' on and have a little 'wiggle room' to them. Our old handles screwed into place and had no play in them. Not a security issue, just less than perfect when you pull the handle. Also, you can only store two codes.

This was a life saver!

This keypad lock has made it so we don’t have to hand out multiple keys to every employee and potentially lose them to people who shouldn’t have access. Our facility has multiple!

Smooth function.

This was just purchased for our home after purchasing our first set years ago. The first set is still beautiful and opens a smoothly as the day I put it in. This set is for our front door. We receive compliments on it already and remarks of how nicely it opens. We agree!

Well Designed

I purchased these locks for a shared family cabin. I have a similar lock on another vacation rental property. These locks are so convenient and well designed. It was important for me to have something with a key backup in case the battery dies in the sometimes long spans of time when no one is at the house. I also didn't want anything dependent on wi-fi due to the remote nature of the home. I love that the lock can be disengaged by the flip of the lever to make reentry easy. I am curious, though, to see how the finish holds up since the home is near salt water.

Replaced all locks in our new home with Schlage!

My husband and I bought our first house 6 months ago and decided to replace all the locks with Schlage. We have several Schlage products, but we are especially happy with this keypad lock. It was super easy to install and there have been no technical issues to date. Despite being a keypad, we feel very secure in our home. We just replaced our back door this weekend and reused the Schlage locks, which again, was very easy to do. In the new door, we decided to add a Schlage deadbolt for extra security at night.

Replacement after 33 yesrs!

Changing ALL of the door latches was a bit of an uphill challenge. We built our house in 1990 and had Schlage hardware. Over the years the metal looked worn and an upgrade was necessary. The black "handles" look so fresh and current on our existing doors. This is the first experience with keyless entry that is simple to use.

Excellent safety, super easy to jnstall

Need to let someone in to the house while you are away? Give them a temporary access code. Erase when done. Great safety feature for kids and family that is visiting without having to hide a key. And installs within minutes! Withstands extreme cold AND heat.

Feels reliable, functions smooth!

I've installed several of these locks for clients and it's safe to say the the fe595 is my favorite lock in every color. Great keypad, versatile style and metal, smooth operation... it has it all. So it was time for one for our own house. Asking with a new schlage single cylinder deadbolt.

1500 successful openings-going strong

Spring 2022 Home Depot installed a new front door and a new Schlage 365 level lock . The HD installer took about 20 min to install, test the mechanism and transfer the key lock. The lock gets used a couple times a day-never failed in 1500 operations. The darkness illumination has used about 20 times and nighttime illuminated keys are handy. If you wrongly enter the combination, an error red warning indicate to start over. No complaints here. Nice not searching or fumbling for keys. You can accept to use preexisting combinations or easily enter your favorite combination. All-around winner.

Great for security

I bought this lock maybe 3 years ago or more. I love the ease of operation, the reliability, and that I can easily program multiple codes. Everyone hopes they will never really have to test their lock for safety, but recently I noticed damage to my door frame and learned that someone had tried to kick my door in, confirmed by the police and the visible boot print. The lock apparently was an effective deterrent because they did not get in. I am so thankful and feel much safer knowing how strong the lock is! That and the fact that it's a steel door probably saved me from what could have been a much worse situation. No damage whatsoever to the lock .... it held fast.

Super Convenient

Love these electronic locks. I have 2 of these and 1 light commercial. The one I just replaced lasted several years. The other two are newer but are more temperamental. They have gotten to where they take a few tries for actuators to move even though they are flashing green. New batteries make no difference. Hoping this one is as good as the older one it replaced.

Easy to install but you will need a small Phillips head screwdriver as one is not provided. Looks good against darker colored doors. You will need to swap the battery every 6 to 9 months to make sure you don't lose power. One it blinks red its to late as there is no way to jumpstart to get around a code, so keep the key, of which there is only one so you may want to make a backup. And as a last reminder keep the instructions in a safe place as the codes are on them and you don't to lose that unlesss you want to take the lock apart as the codes are on the inside of the lock itself. Also the instructions to create or delete codes are on that paper, so again put it in a safe place.

Disappointing Produce

I don't know what cheap Chinese factory these are made in, but I replaced the Schlage keypad on the front door of my new house because the number "4" started working intermittently. After two months, the number "4" started working intermittently on the replacement lock, as well as the new keypad lock I put on my basement door. No idea what Schlage has against the number 4. Both locks work best using the key, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a keypad...I don't know if all Schlage keypads work as poorly as this one, but for $143 a pop I'm not inclined to find out.

Always a quality product

This is the third Schlage Keypad Entry Lock set that I have owned. What can I say, they make a quality product. When I moved into a temporary rental while building my home, I purchased a less expensive keypad lock from a larger home improvement store. I was soon disappointed in my purchase. It goes like the old saying, you get what you pay for and the cheaper lock was exactly that...cheap. So, I went back to what I already knew was a quality product and purchased this!

Lock Replacement

I purchased 3-FE595 keyless locksets to replace 3-FE575s since their price was outstanding. It is great having the inside lever to disable the locking mechanism rather than having to insert the key on the outside below the keypad to do the same. Schlage makes a superior product and Build has what you need at a great price with outstanding customer service. I opened and chat to ask a couple of questions and the super knowledgeable lady was able to help me purchase the exact replacements I needed.
