Newer model cheaper made

3 yrs ago I purchased this same style Ge 6000 btu ac. It worked amazing until last month. I loved it so much I bought the new version of it. It is so much less of an ac than the old model. It has to run a lot more to cool off the same area and it is almost impossible to get the filter out to clean it. I do not recommend this product at all

Bulky But Definitely Worth It

As the title implies, this is a very bulky AC. A small price to pay, when it comes down to setting it up. Overall, it’s worth the purchase. The ECO option is a real game changer. So, you never have to worry about leaving the AC on, for too long. And the remote control is the cherry on top. Valid feature. Easy five stars.

Is working well…but…

The air conditioner has been working just fine but has developed an issue that I cannot find an answer for in the instruction book that came with the product. The red blinking light that occurs when the filter needs cleaning. it’s suddenly flashing nonstop even after removing the filter and checking it and putting it back in because it was clean. Even when I turn off the air conditioner with the remote, the red light continues to flash. The only way to get the red light to stop flashing is to disconnect the cord from the outlet. I consulted the instruction booklet troubleshooting information but there is nothing concerning a flashing red light that won’t quit. I have not yet Contacted customer service/service department for help.

Love this unit

My central a/c went out only 6 months after my home purchase. Luckily it was winter so I could get by without it due to it still produced heat. But, when summer hit and I still didn't have enough to buy a new central system I decided to go with a GTE window a/c. It's 18,000 BTU and it cools the front part of the house. I bought this 6,000 BTU to put in the rear of the house and I love it just as much as the first one. Magnificent machines they are and I could go for years w/o the central if I had to. I always purchase the ECO friendly ones and my electric bill stays so low because of that.

Better than expected!

After reading reviews I was sceptical. This unit is perfect and I haven't had any issues. Although I havent had it long, I clearly understand what the complaints were about. Reading the manual would have helped so many lol!! If it's not getting cool the settings need to be adjusted as stated in the manual. Easily cools off my livingroom that's around 750-780 sq ft. and I live upstairs, took around an hr because it was so hot inside. It got so cold to the point where I need a light sweater on. I will be buying another one for my bedroom this weekend. Oh and if you hear any noise just stabilize the two top pieces of the shades...simple.

Works Hard

This AC is rated to cool a 200 sq ft room, so we put one in my husband’s new metal building, which is 200 sq ft. In Alabama. In the oppressive heat, where humidity makes an 80 degree day “feel like” 97! Tho the structure is partially insulated, this little unit works its little heart out to keep the building cool. It can’t. But it does its best. I doubt any AC could perform better under these conditions. (In fact our central air in our homeHas a hard time this time of year - July.) It’s set to cool the room, and we get the room to a tolerable temperature. We couldn’t use a higher BTU AC because the window is too small. We were able to install and get this unit up and running in about an hour to an hour and a half, partially due to some adaptations to the window frame. Additionally, some screw holes didn’t line up exactly which made mounting it harder than necessary. This review may sound like we don’t like the AC, but that’s not true. Especially for the price, and it’s “I think I can” attitude, we recommend.
