As expected

I purchased this toilet because it replaces a toilet that was weak in flushing. This is not. It very efficiently and quickly eliminates what’s in the bowl with a pleasing rush, quieter than I expected. I had a plumber install the toilet. It took him about an hour. He stated he was pleased with the product going in and that it would be easy to service going forward. It looks good. The one piece design is worth the money imo, because it really looks nice, with compact, smooth lines.

American Standard Champion 4 Toilet

We purchased this toilet because we wanted the raised height, and a one piece construction. We are extremely disappointed with it. After installing it we noticed a puddle on the floor. We uninstalled it and replaced the wax seal with another new one, and re-installed it. Still leaking. The water was seeping right through the porcelain casting on the back of the tank. Very poor workmanship. Made in Mexico. After two more re-installs, and five coats of Flex Seal, we finally got it to hold water. We would not recommend this unit.

Great toilet

Our longtime plumber recommended this one to replace our 20+ year old toilet. It is exactly as described with a great flush and is virtually self-cleaning with minimal scrubbing. We look forward to years of maintenance free use.

Buy Parts Direct From American Standard

Owned this toilet 3 years with no issues, then a seal on the flapper leaked. Replaced the seal with a Korky after market product. A year later the seal was leaking. Bought same product at Lowe’s (now Rona) & it leaked within days. As well, the Fill Valve also was making a wired sound & filling slow. Plumber at Rona recommended new Fill Valve & the toilet filled easily, quietly & fast. Seal still leaked. As to the seal, he recommended calling AS for parts.

Excellent toilet

Overall excellent toilet--looks good, works great, quiet seat, excellent flushing power, stain resistent finish, easy to clean; no problems with installation. Only minor gripe is the tank top is sloped so you can't 'store' items on top of it.

This model is a good toilet.

I like that this toilet works well and is difficult to clog. This particular unit has a few defects, but all of them are cosmetic and not too noticeable. (There are extra pieces of porcelain in the tank and a ridge in the front water opening.) These do not affect the performance, as this unit works as well as the one in my upstairs bathroom, which does not have these minor defects.

Great sleek look, excellent flushing power. Being a single unit bowl and tank took 2 guys to carry to second floor. Now have 4 of these toilets. Glad we did the upgrade. Only negative is the bowl holds less water and can some times be left dirty after a flush.

Excellent flush and never have any clogs. Very happy with this purchase and will be purchasing another one for our second bathroom.

Ghost Flushing and run-on

I bought 3 of these for my house from Home Depot. ALL 3 constantly run with ghost flushing. We have replaced all flapper and seals! This does not help. We even had a plumber come. There isn't a remedy for it! FYI There is a clas a action lawsuit on this model! I wish Home Depot would have removed this model so I would not have bought not one but three of them for my house!!!! Just sharing so you are duped like us!

Flushing does not remove everything in the poilet.

The design of the flow is very poor and the water justy flush from the center of the bowl, leaving the side and bottom of the toilet unclean. Even flushing it again has no effect.

Love how the 1-piece toilet cleans up.

Toilet is excellent. The seat is quite comfortable. The flush is amazing and the tank refills quickly. So far nothing sticks to the surface of the bowl. The only negative is the unglazed portion of the lid (the bottom rim) shows slightly when installed.

Great toilet with one downside

I love this toilet, it’s works as designed. It hardly ever gets plugged and does not use a lot of water to accomplish this. The only negative thing is that I’ve needed to buy 3 of these toilets so far, the first one the upper reservoir that holds the water to flush the toilet cracked and my second toilet cracked and leaked under the toilet bowl at the front water jet. I only had to buy a new toilet due to not having the receipt and not registering it so the cost of replacement was my fault. I recommend this toilet but make sure that you register it with American standard to take advantage of the warranty if you need it…..they save a picture of your receipt for you to make warranty claims easier.
