Works great, but arrived damaged.

I love the AC unit. There is a little drain plug that lets water run out where you want it. The only two problems I have had so far are that it had multiple ascetic damages when it arrived. The top and right side were dented and the outdoor heat exchanger grill had minor imperfections. I don’t think these are huge deals if you are using the unit on a second floor but I think it takes away from how good it looks without damage if someone sees it up close. Also, a lot of little flys were inside the outdoor part after the first night. I don’t know if this is normal for window AC units. I think they need to package this better for how much it weighs. The delivery driver left it on its side because it is honestly too much weight for one person to handle safely.

I received my item today and of course it’s the wrong model just like others have stated as well. I had to make 2 phone calls and waste 45 min to get them to send someone to pick up this 58 lbs AC. First agent lied and said they will but then I got an email saying that I have to return the item. The supervisor told me that “she just told me what I wanted to hear and some agents do that.” Like is that supposed to make me feel better? I WILL NEVER place another order with Walmart. Never had an issue with Amazon. Customer service is absolutely horrible and feels like a scam. No apologies for sending the wrong model and they also refused to replace the item with the one that I ordered. Like am I supposed to place another order and risk to get sent the wrong item again?? This feels like a scam. Apparently someone is coming to pick it up tomorrow but that’s not stated on the email and the supervisor said that they will and not worry. Will see.. I would’ve kept this one but the reviews on model LW8020RD are horrific. Buy at your own risk.

Very nice 8000 BTU Window Unit

I've owned around a dozen window units over the last forty years and this one is one of the best, if not THE best-behaving unit I have ever used.

This is my first purchase from Sylvane, and I am absolutely satisfied with the experience. In fact I am certain that I will be a repeat customer. I purchased the LG LW8016ER Window Air Conditioner because it met very specific requirements regarding the performance of the unit. Since the A/C will only be installed prior to a Hurricane and operated on a 5.3 kHw UPS my primary requirements were low Amps- High Cooling capacity. This unit is a Home Run. We have performed 3 separate tests of running the A/C on the Battery Back Up and each time it has operated for more than 12 hours which should be enough to get through any power outages/storms and my generator running. Thank You for having this unit available at a very low price point. Satisfied customer.

arrived damaged

This LG pricey air conditioner arrived damaged. We first notice that the right side has three dented grates. We decided to continue on, hoping this model would work because of its seemingly durable and heavy size. I hoped the motor would be strong. But then, we discovered that we couldn't screw the middle screw into the upper guide because the top of the air conditioner is a bit concave. It should be straight. Im afraid to discover the next faulty thing! Two thumbs down, straight out the box!

Styrofoam IS FOR CUPS!!!

I bought this unit mainly because the inside/outside divider appeared to be hard plastic. Styrofoam IS FOR CUPS!!!! All the pictures I had seen of it led me to believe the entire divider was hard plastic, then I got it home and found that only the top 3 inches of the divider was hard plastic. The rest is styrofoam that ants and wasps can chew through in minutes (had it happen, so yes it can happen). Unfortunately all window ac's manufacturers think a disposable cup is a good divider between the inside and outside now.

Dead on Arrival

Ordered this online to be delivered to the house. It arrived undamaged and looked good, but after installing it in a 90 degrees room it quickly became apparent that it doesn't work. Lights came on but the fan motor was seized up and couldn't turn the blades. You could hear it struggle to try and then click off. Tried every mode and function. The fan would not work in any way, shape or form. To make it worse, even though I had it delivered, I now have to pack it up and take it back to Lowe's myself and wait a week or so for the hundreds of dollars to come back. That was the only chance you get LG. I will never, ever even attempt to use another LG A/C unit.

Pick it up yourself if you can!

I would have given this a 5 star review, however, LG really failed upon packaging these air conditioners for safe delivery without any damage. That’s not the case. I’m not blaming the delivery company for your failure to provide adequate shipping without damaging the unit. Mine came with the side of the back of the unit damaged and caved in. The very back had gouges out of it, and because of this it’s loud and rackity. This is one powerful unit that cools my house beautifully, but because of the damage incurred due to your poor packaging, I just can’t give it the true rating that it deserves. I love the timer, the 3 fan levels, the precision cooling, but protect these better upon shipping!

Easy, breezy install, and ice cold!

I am amazed at this little window AC. I have it on low cool and it stays ice cold in the guest room. It was light weight so that I, at 66 yes old, could lift it into the window. It was a very easy install.

LG 8000 BTU window A/C with remote Model # LW8016R

I've only had this LG 8,000 BTU with remote and without the BLUETOOTH (hopefuly for more long term reliability) for 3 weeks and is doing a good job. I use it in the master Bed Room wich I keep cooler than the rest of the house. I purchase this LG window a/c to replace an 8,000 BTU Frigidare model wich was out of stock and had also purchased at Lowes in the spring of 2011, I used it 24/7 6-7 month a year and it lasted 10 years. Both are a little noisier than their premiun models that address that specifically, but realy they are not that bad 8 feet from the bed. In comparison they both get the job done in a 310 Sq.Ft. room with a southern exposure, the LG unit controls have a better feel and promises a slight better energy eficiency, The Frigidare window monting kit was was more stout and could acomodates a wider window. Just clean the filter at intervals, I wraped it with a screen mech to keep debry and bugs out of the unit and ad an optional interior isulation to keep noise out and take it out of the window most winters after a mildow spray cleanig and water hoose cleaning, I hope it will serve me as long.

General review. Installation and operation.

Purchased for an attached garage with two cinder block walls. Full sun, no shade in metro Denver. I've only had the unit now for about 3 weeks and every day it has been in the mid to upper 90s. The unit has performed very well and surprisingly quiet. On average I have seen a 25 degree temperature differential in the hottest part of the day. For reference, my garage is about 570 sf. Everything I had read in my research said to size up for walls/doors that have full sun exposure. Installation was very easy with a second person to lift the unit in place. The internals slide out on a single tray leaving just the outer frame to make mounting the unit a breeze. Mount the frame, slide in the tray, a couple of screws and put the front cover on. My only complaint (and isn't something that would dissuade me from purchasing again) is that the rear fins are completely exposed. Some type of grill or grate cover over them would be nice to protect against damage from the inevitable hail storm. Power to the unit was not an issue. I initially had it plugged into a standard 15a outlet but, have since ran a dedicated circuit to this unit. The lights in the garage did flicker when the compressor kicked in. If a garage is your intended use then I would highly suggest getting this on its own breaker if you plan on using power tools, air compressors or pressure washers that are on the same circuit (breaker).
