[Rewarded Review] No more coffee shops
I don’t know why I didn’t get an espresso machine sooner. It has changed my mornings. No more s.bucks runs. I can recreate any coffee shop recipe and the use/ cleaning is very very easy. You just have to be aware of what you’re doing especially with the steam wand. The design is very nice with the copper accents and very good material. I also appreciate the app for it, you can set your single and double shot settings how you like it & depending on the beans you are using. It also sends reminders if the water is running low
Not Worth It. [Updated Review]
I have had this espresso machine for almost six months now and I’m pretty disappointed. Initially, I had reasonable hopes as it seemed to be constructed with substantial components and, after a lengthier than necessary adjustment process to get the grind and amount just right, it actually does make a good shot of espresso. However, that is all it does well.
Do Not Buy
It works great for a week then the grinder gets clogged and keeps clogging no matter how thoroughly you clean it out. I got it to start working two times after deep cleaning the grinder and now after clogging for the third time in a week it has
[Rewarded Review] Not as expected, for such an expensive appliance
Loved it for about 3 months, then the writing on the buttons wipe off. So you could no longer see the number of the shots you need wanted to brewed. Within six months the grinder started to get clogged up, despite cleaning it like the advice to do. After the year a few little parts inside the grinder broke off, and now 1.5 later it completely broke. The grinder no longer works. Very disappointed on the product.
2 Warranties and No Refund... GE Wants to send #3!
I purchased this machine in May 2024 for mothers day as it matched our appliances. The grinder malfunctioned after one month of use. I was able to return it and the replacement machine malfunctioned almost immediately. The representative for GE said it was a user error. I've owned multiple espresso machines and never had an issue "descaling or cleaning" them. This is the worst machine that ever existed. Stay away at all cost. I have since opened up a credit card charge back to the retailer Williams and Sonoma who has also denied me a refund. There are so many better espresso machine's on the market. I refuse to give this machines a 3rd chance. Please don't let the great looks of machine this fool you.
Terrible purchase
If I could give a zero review I would. I moved out of the country specifically the US with this machine. I had purchased it for myself as a Christmas gift. Fast forward to a few months from the time of the move and the machine turns on but does nothing. I’vse spent two hours long distance to be passed around on the found only to chat with some of the rudest customer service employees I’ve ever experienced. One out of 3 attempted to be helpful. Do not buy this, it’s expensive and does not work. It’s a pretty item to add to your counter top but is as useless as their customer service.
So sad
An absolute nightmare with my first unit. I went through over $100 in espresso beans because I refused to give up and I was optimistic it would work. Problem after problem and received a replacement machine. The second one was no better. I’m trying to get this off my hands now. I want to try the other machine but why waste nearly 1k on failed machines?? I want to love this. I really do.
Great for about two years then downhill from there
Bought ours 2/22. Surface printing on buttons wore of in a matter of weeks. Despite regular cleaning per app notice it started to drip water around grinder when pulling shots after two years and problem has gotten progressively worse now also dripping out of steam wand seeming to indicate leaking water/brew/steam valve inside. Nice copper finish on portafilter has also nearly completely worn off. Disappointing life for a $530 appliance.
[Rewarded Review] Decent quality for the price
This espresso machine is easy to use and looks nice. The grinder stopped working properly within the first year and now doesn't work at all. It is also leaking water somewhere when I use the steam wand, so that is frustrating. I missed the warranty period otherwise I'm sure the company would have fixed these issues.
Great machine!
I love this espresso machine! I'm a newbie at making my own espresso. It took a little bit of getting used to, but reading the directions and looking at videos really helped. The espresso tastes great. The Frother works really well and is easy to use. Plus, the machine is beautiful to look at!
[Rewarded Review] Made amazing coffee, service bad.
I had this machine over a year with great results. Everything was dialed in just right and worked phenomenally well for something at this price point. This issue came when it began leaking from the side of the grinder area. Taking apart the machine revealed an ABS plastic water distribution block directly behind the center knob that was spraying a fine mist through a crack and into the machine. I called for service, but they didn't want to know anything. They don't have any parts for it. If it's been a year, throw it out and get a new one. I felt bad because this was such a good machine with many years left in it. If anyone has a 3d printer and could make this part, let me know.
Pretty Good...has drawbacks
We like this machine but it has its drawbacks. The grinder gets jammed occasionally and that’s with us only grinding fresh beans on a 9 setting which is more course than I would like. And yes we followed all of the grinder recommendations and instructions from the manual. Also the words on the buttons “power” and “grind” started wearing away within 3 months of use. I only make one cup of coffee a day. That is pretty low-quality writing if the words are rubbing off after three months of coffee once a day. Lastly, the water reservoir leaks when you detach it from the machine and fill it up. It doesn’t leak when on the machine but it’s a mess to fill up. Ordered a new reservoir to see if it fixes the problem but not hopeful.
Very Needy
Looks great and makes pretty good coffee. The %231 issue is that after using it just a handful of times the grinder chute gets blocked. You can clean it but that becomes something that you need to do on almost every pull because otherwise the dose is wildly inaccurate. Each time you clean it you get coffee grounds all over the counter. If you have 2 cups of coffee per person per day you are cleaning about 1/2 tablespoon out of the chute and onto your counter each time you make a cup of coffee. If you are using expensive coffee, it starts to add up and is annoying. My suggestion to GE, make this a stand alone machine with no grinder. My suggestion to prospective buyers...dont buy this machine unless you like sweeping up coffee grounds.
Nice but has some issues
I purchased the unit in Dec 2023. In mid April we noticed water accumulating under the unit. Customer Service said that I should have been descaling the unit weekly and that was probably why it was leaking. In any event a new unit was sent to me. After only a few days the grinds would clog up the dispensing slot. We even changed from an Espresso bean to a Columbian bean and it would still get clogged. Very frustrating not being able to make a cup of coffee in the morning from a $500 machine. We have cleaned and brushed and vacuumed the grinder area to with in an inch of its life and occasionally it still gets clogged. I feel like I just have to live with it because it is clear to me that the Customer Service personnel have no clue and dealing with that is even more frustrating!
Push Button Labels Vanished
We barely had this machine for 1 year when the labels on the push buttons started to wear away. We know which button turns it on, but the rest is guess as to the Single, Double. It's a crap shoot everytime we make a coffee. We paid over $500 for this thing and first thing to fail are the button lettering. We feel like someone used a less than average ink for this machine. Fixable? Doubtful. Very disappointing.
Solid machine with a couple very minor complaints
The very first lesson we learned was how important it is to get the grind size right. We were used to using more traditional espresso machines which have been a little more forgiving, maybe due to higher pressures? Either way, the manual's suggestion of 5-7 is spot on an pulls really great shots. We love the fact that the hopper is removable and the water reservoir, while a tad bit clunky, is convenient. My only complaints are that the lid to the water reservoir doesn't close flush with the top of the container/machine, and it's most definitely one of the louder espresso machines I've ever owned. So far it's been a solid purchase, especially catching it on sale.
Piece of junk
Could not recommend this machine any less. Had for less than a year and it leaks horribly, creates a huge mess when grinding (that is, if it is able to grind the beans that are in container even when full), and cleaning lights do not shut off no matter how many times you try. The fact that this costs $600 is criminal and would advise to go with literally any other coffee maker
About average: decent but could be far better
The machine looks great and as a semi-automatic machine it is convenient. Personally I would have preferred more manual adjustability over convenience, however. I had worked in dozens of coffee houses in my younger years and am rather handy around an espresso machine- not boasting, but just setting the scene for my expectations. The settings after setting it up out of the box are not great. The grinder dispenses too much coffee so even after tamping the porta filter won’t rotate into the machine. The water is not quite enough so it doesn’t dispense much coffee and the pressure packs the grounds so tightly into the porta filter you really have to hammer it to get them out- even with a knock box. Fortunately, the settings are adjustable- single more-so than double. You can adjust the single shot grind time and water fairly precisely by holding the button for the desired duration. The double, in the other hand, is only adjustable through the app and only allows 1/2 second/ounce increments for grind time and water. Even on the coarsest setting, the grinds are pretty fine, but with some trial and error you can get it set-up to dispense a rather decent shot of espresso; you will likely waste quite a bit of coffee in doing so, so don’t start with the good stuff.
It's great if you can't read.
The machine functions great and matches all my other cafe appliances. The wifi functions are good for fine tuning. However, I have only owned it for 27 days and the letters on the buttons are coming off. This is so disappointing coming from a "premium" brand. Every time I see the missing letters I just sigh and roll my eyes. Maybe it's a small thing to most but if you spend $600 on a kitchen appliance and less then 30 days later the labels are rubbing off? #shame.
Buy a Brevlille they last longer than a year
We diligently adhered to all the cleaning and maintenance instructions, ensuring the machine's smooth operation until the time came for descaling. However, with each descaling session, the machine's performance gradually deteriorated, and now it refuses to function altogether. Despite contacting customer service twice, no satisfactory solution has been provided. It is disheartening to note that I have only owned the machine for 13 months, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend it.
