Very Good

We use the cooktop nearly every day x2 years now (some weekends it seems like all day long). Of course a ceramic top cannot compare with gas, but we weren't going to add gas line install, connection, & service to the scope of the remodeling project. The cooktop is literally in the center of our open-plan living/kitchen/dining room, and performs well. So far, we are satisfied - if I get 20+ years of performance at this level, that's as it should be. The spot pattern on the glass, which totally offended my husband at first, isn't really that noticeable, although we have a white, speckled quartz countertop and a bright white room - it might be different if you had absolute black counters or more subdued lighting. Actually, in our setting, it turns out to disguise fingerprints & splatters in a way that an un-patterned black glass would not.

Stove top is Junk, avoid it

Ive had this LG stove for 4 months now. You turn the thing ON then pick a burner then pick the number. If there is any slight thing like food or water spilled on the touch surface? the unit will shut OFF and will not let you turn it back on for hours or the rest of the day. Make oatmeal, electric stove? 3 min the water is boiling. This LG? 11 minutes! Or it shuts off, no oatmeal like today. Call LG service? hi Joe we fix for you ok? not you worry, we have tech there in 3 day, ok? you are happy?

We’ve had it about a month. Looks and works great! Like being able to activate rings for pot size. Purchased for the double burner griddle feature, very happy with. Just getting used to temp levels compared to old cooktop. A little trial and error. Wish controls were fingerprint proof. Easy to clean. LG brands require a higher amp than GE and other brands and what our house was wired for, so make sure you look at specs and are aware of what your circuit breaker can handle and your gauge of wire. Our old house required some electrical work.

[Rewarded Review] Smooth & sleek cooktop

I love all of the features on this cooktop, I am however not crazy about the finish on it. I thought it was damaged. It looks like bubbles are on the finish. I would have preferred the finish to be a smooth finish. However, I love the fact that this is smooth to the counter top, there are no knobs but the buttons , heats quickly & has child lock on it. Only down side is the steps you have to take to turn it on. You have to hit the power button 1st, then select the burner you want and if it’s a dual or triple burner you have to hit the button one or 2 more times and then select how high you want the heat…it’s a long process lol but I do like it :)

So far, so good

So far, so good. The top has as speckled finish that makes it a little better than a solid black finish, for looks -- but like all of these, they are a pain to keep clean. Seems to cook well, and the multitude of varying element sizes makes it efficient to get the right size for the right pot. Takes a bit to get used to after replacing an old coil/element top, this one seems to get hot faster. Had to upgrade wiring/breakers to put this in, as the installation instructions are pretty firm on minimum requirements (older house), but that would be for any of these 36" tops. Controls are intuitive and simple, with smooth controls being easier to clean.

Clean and stylish upgrade.

Bringing the kitchen to a more modern look has been achieved with this LG cooktop. The unit was easy to install but does require a dedicated 40 amp. 240/220-volt circuit with #10 wire. Being only a month old I have found this cooktop to work flawlessly. I love the even heat and the option of the dual burners. Cleaning the unit has been easy to achieve and looks great. The only drawback I have found is adjusting the temperature settings. Having sight issues the 1-9 main touch pad would have been nice if it were more illuminated instead of just the power on only. The individual power illumination for each burner is great. Other than that, I am very satisfied with the cooktop.

Cooktop has a design flaw

Do not purchase this cooktop. We built a new home and selected this cooktop as well as other highly rated LG Products. The cooktop has now failed 3 times in 2.5 years due to a motherboard failure. LG refuses to do anything because the overall unit is out of warranty even though the component never lasted more than 8 months. In researching other reviews, it looks like we are not alone with this issue, so LG knows there is a design flaw. Cost to repair is over $600 for this failure or more than half the cost of the unit. We decided to not sink any more money in this and bought new from another manufacturer. Due to this experience, I am doubtful we'll ever purchase an LG anything again.

Basically a good cook top

We have had this a little over 6 years and one of the burners has stopped working. I guess it is the planned obsolescence that is coming into play. It works well but sometimes the low settings seem to be a little too much. Also the whole cooktop lights up sometimes if you set something on it or if the electricity blinks which is worrisome. Having to spends potentially hundreds of dollars to fix an appliance that isn't that old is a little annoying but they are made to break. I have a refrigerator that is around 60 years old that still works. Companies care more about profit than the environment. They have the capability to make things that last but that cuts into their profit margin so destroy the earth we live on for a pocket full of money.

LG knows there are problems with this model

LG fully knows about regular and reoccurring consumer problems with the electronics board on this model, they're currently on version 3, and it still isn't resolved. They should cease production, but still continue to sell it. IT IS JUNK! NICE LOOKING, NICE CONCEPT, BUT DOESN'T WORK! AVOID!! I purchased this for a new home in June 2019, it's been constant trouble. I had warranty repair done on the unit this past March (after ridiculous orchestration with their "lack of" customer service). The entire electronic board was ordered and replaced, it improved, but still doesn't fully function. Then the pandemic closure hit, and I was faced with the dread of having to go through the torture of poor customer service again. Before the warranty repair, the unit would have to be turned off every time at the circuit breaker, burners on, unable to be turned off. Now it only occasionally has to be turned off at the breaker. After just being on the phone with customer torture 4 times, I'm ready to toss it off the deck. I will not buy another LG anything if this is their attempt at "service" of any kind.

UNSAFE and LG cannot/will not fix

I really like this cooktop’s appearance, function, and operation. It is everything I was hoping for. HOWEVER, the touch controls occasionally become unresponsive. You either cannot turn the unit on or you CANNOT TURN THE UNIT OFF. That’s right you may have elements on at high temperature and not be able to turn them off or down. The controls just do not respond to any touch. I have had a technician out twice to replace each of the two electronic components in the cooktop, and the problem persists. The last time the technician was called he reported to LG that the unit could not be repaired (there was nothing left to replace). Now I have been calling LG for about a month trying to get them to replace the unit. However, they keep giving me a runaround saying they need a report from the service technician, or they need more time, or they need my receipt (which they had and which I resent to them). I have spent several HOURS on the phone with LG Customer Service usually talking to someone that I can barely understand. Every call the whole process seems to start over.

After a lot of research, I chose this unit to replace my 25 year old Kitchen Aid cooktop (repair parts no longer available). I was concerned that it required a slightly larger cutout than the old unit but found several videos on U-Tube that show how to cut a synthetic stone counter top. It was easy and the toughest part was cleaning up. I read the Quick Start sheet and it took a learning curve of about 1 minute to start using the cooktop. You are encouraged to apply the included cooktop cleaner before the first use and every now and again thereafter. It was like putting a coat of wax on your car! The surface was smooth and cleaned easily when I boiled over some pasta! I like the safety features, the digital controls and the clean look. There is a built in gasket around the rim to ensure that dirt, spills, etc. don't get under the rim (it was pretty disgusting when we removed the old unit). Although I have had this cooktop for only a week, I have used most of the burners in the various modes (single, dual or triple) and I would recommend it and considering LG's reputation for quality, expect to get many years of use from it.

Not happy with this range at all! I bought this range in late October 2018. It was dimensionally different enough from our previous GE range of the same type (about 15 years old), despite being the same nominal size, that I had to cut the granite countertop about a half inch more in both directions. Talk about a mess!
