Stylish Cooktop and Cooks Exceptionally Well

I couldn’t be happier with this cooktop! Not only does it look sleek and stylish in my kitchen, but it also performs exceptionally well. The design is modern and elegant, adding a beautiful touch to the space. With plenty of burners, I can easily prepare multiple dishes at once, which is perfect for family meals. It heats up quickly, cooks evenly, and gives me full control over the temperature. If you’re looking for a quality cooktop that’s affordably priced both functional and attractive, this one is a fantastic choice!

GE five burner 30inch cooktop

This cooktop is a replacement for my old which came with my house. Turns out the old one was not installed properly! No gasket! My new GE cooktop has a power burner, an awesome feature! The lower power burner is awesome too! The five burner design is great when cooking for a crowd. The lock for the controls is an excellent safety feature.

A great product overall!

So far I absolutely love this stove. I have never had a stove with knobs on the top before. They were always on the back so it will take some getting used to, but the placement of the burners definitely takes their location into consideration and so far they don't get in the way. It also helps the younger "chefs" in the house remember to put the long handles towards the side or back so they dont have any accidents. I plus I wasn't anticipating but hey, whatever works right. The glass top heats to the right temp that is consistent each time. The unique placement of the burners works so well for making sauce on the weekends. With the larger burner in the middle it prevents the red sauce from splattering and staining our counterop. It also helps to make sure the exhaust fan prevents any staining on our white cabinets. We haven't used the melt feature yet but we look forward to it. If I was to change 1 thing, and this is very petty, it would be the knobs. I wish they were a silver color metal instead of black. We did lose the top drawer under the oven because of the depth, but that's not a big deal. We turned them into a large flip out for dirty spoons to sit while cooking so they don't end up on the counter. It helps. If I have anything to add in the next few months I'll be sure to do so.

Not what I expected from GE

I bought this to replace a cracked GE Profile cooktop. After using the product once, some of the radiant pixel things are exposed so there are random gray spots dotting my brand new cooktop. I waited so long for delivery and so long for installation that I’m just keeping it. You can only see them when my overhead light is on. I think I paid too much. Otherwise, the product works fine.

Glass is NOT covered under warranty

In reading the review the glass top seems to break easily which we decided to take the risk with. big mistake. the glass cracked within 4 months (received feb 1 cracked jun 17!!). i called for a warranty replacement today and per the rep the glasstop is cosmetic and not covered under warranty!! had I known this we would have gone with another option!! what a pain!!! You can't use the cooktop without the glass yet the glass is not covered. replacement $300

NEVER trust verbal statements from Lowes

What I don't like is the fact that we ordered and paid for this cook-top on 24 April 2024. It's now 10 May 2024, and we still do have the cook-top, despite the fact that when I ordered it, I was told by two different people that we should have it in one or two days, depending on whether it was available in the Lowes warehouse or needed to be ordered from the Mfr. We were later informed that a bezel had to be custom made for the installation, and that the estimated receipt would be 1 June 2024. I am totally dumbfounded by the fact that you folks apparently have NO idea when we're actually going to have the cook-top installed. So we're still living with a cook-top that's only partially operational, which is pitiful. I will NEVER again purchase any major product from this outfit.

I am very unhappy with this product.

I’m very unhappy with this product! Scratches appear easily. I’m using cookware I used for years with my previous cooktop and never had any scratches appear. It is also difficult to clean. There appears to be a film over the cooktop and it never looks clean. I do not like the knob controls being in the middle of the cooktop, just personal preference. GE was no help. We had a service rep come out and he said unless it’s cracked or broken they’re not going to do anything about it. I was informed by GE customer service that I had one week after purchase to report any cosmetic damage. I guess I didn’t read the fine print. The only positive thing I can say is it cooks ok.

Unable to clean after first use.

Purchased popular special cleaner for cooktop. Used product as instructed before first use. Cooktop has marks where skillet sat during cooking. Cleaned cooktop after cooling for 18 hours, marks will not come clean. Not burnt food, but cooktop no longer looks new after 3 times use. This is my first smooth top cooktop, 60 year old cooktop looked good at 30 years.

Easy cooktop replacement to update the kitchen.

This new JEP5030DTBB replaced a 1996 GE 30" electric glass cooktop mounted in a granite counter-top. Installation took less than two hours by myself. It fit in the existing cut-out that had an adjacent GE downdraft ventilation hood. Coils tested good without any problem. Features seem easy to understand and use. The elastic gasket between the glass and the granite is a good addition. Wattage with all burners at maximum (think Thanksgiving and Christmas cooking on the same day) is at the limit for a 220 V 30 Amp circuit wiring.

Great burner options but prefer knobs on side

We replaced our old GE 4-burner radiant heat glass stovetop after 25 years. I love the different possible sizes of burners, and having the knobs in front means that it's easy to know which knob belongs to which burner. However, I almost wish I had gone with a totally flat version or the knobs on the side (like the old one), because the cooktop isn't so easy to use as a countertop with the knobs in the way. Also, it seems a little more difficult to clean. When I put aluminum cookie trays on the stovetop, they leave a mark that takes some extra work to get off.

Buyer Beware

The product arrived, and it had a defect. It was delivered during the week, and we did not have time to install it and use until the weekend. The smell from the defect was atrocious, and we had to open windows in the winter to try to get out the smell. Lowe’s said there was nothing they could do since it was longer than 48 hours. Do not buy from Lowe’s if you can’t use your new purchase immediately. We now had to have GE come. They knew what the problem was before they arrived, told us they would check to make sure, but then told us that they didn’t have the part and would have to come back. To us, if new does not work, new should be replaced. Super-worried that we have a lemon that will never work. Would give zero stars to Lowe’s for this policy and to GE for not replacing and for coming to do a service call for a problem for which they knew they didn’t have the part.

Pleased with GE cooktop

This is a good cooktop. I was very happy to hear that GE had not changed their dimensions in the 15 years since we built our house. This model fit exactly into our countertops which is the reason we chose it. My old cooktop was completely flat which I prefer, but the only models I could find were induction and I did not want that. My last cooktop also had a 12" burner which was my most used one. This one the biggest is 9" but I'm getting used to it. I could not find anything comparable to my old model that would fit in my cutout. The burners work well and the knobs are easy to use. It is harder to clean the cooktop because of the knobs but they do come off to make things easier. If I could have purchased the exact same model I had before I would have, but this was the next best one. This one looks good in my kitchen. I would definitely recommend buying a GE cooktop.

Process Takes 2 months to get a Cooktop

Product is not the problem - the process is horrible with the timing. I have been without a cooktop since thanksgiving and began the process with Lowes at that point and it is after Christmas and have been told the installation will be 2-3 weeks after the product has been delivered to Lowes. First the buying process required the installers to come out and check measurements. 2 weeks. They come and it takes 3-4 days to get the info back to Lowes. Done - I go to Lowes buy the product. It takes a week to arrive - should be the week after Christmas- here we are its Thursday and no contact that it has arrived. Once arrived the installer calls to set up the install which will be 2-4 weeks out. Worse yet the install costs about as much as the product. $200 install fee + $250 to put a simple $5 junction box in to meet code, then another $200 to put a safety piece in the Electrical Panel + $50 to take the old unit away. That is $700 for the install! Outrageous. Lowes needs to have more then one option for the install as the process is unexceptable.

[Rewarded Review] Beautiful, functional, and easy to use and clean

Things I like…I love the burner layout, burners heat up quickly, it’s nice looking, and easy to clean (by using the product they included with the cooktop. I will be buying more of that.) It has a “hot” indicator on every burner control so you can tell which burner is still hot after shutting it off. It has a safety lock feature that would be useful if there are small children in the house so they can’t turn it on by accident.

Good replacement cooktop.

We were updating our kitchen appliances and needed a GE cooktop to match. This was in the price range we needed and had the extra heat surface we wanted. When we started the installation, we found that this 30" cooktop is smaller than the one we removed. We had to order a GE trim ring to fill in the previous range cutout. It took an extra 2 weeks, but the ring worked for the countertop cutout. We would have preferred to not need the trim, but it suits its purpose.
