I Completely Recommend This Unit

This 12,000 BTU unit worked very well this summer in an approximate 28 X 12 livingroom space. It made the space very comfortable the entire summer, even when door was open to the attached enclosed porch.

Unit Great In Dry Climate

It was great until a storm hit and lightning fried the control panel which according to GE cannot be repaired. You all should look into fixing that because it is a real hassle to be reimbursed for the unit. AND the only way you can get your money back is to purchaser another GE unit. Just not fair to me. I am not wealthy enough to go and buy another unit to get reimbursed for the first.

Great cooling capacity and quiet running!

Great AC

Excellent customer service!

We bought this exact AC in 2023 from P.C.. It basically died over the winter - no explanation. It was still under one yr warranty and P.C. exchanged the old one for a new one. No hassles. Thank you! We’re now cool as cucumbers with the new one.

Terrible product

This is a terrible product.

Horrible

Bought in April of 2023 worked good all summer of last year. Installed in May of 2024 doesn’t blow cold air now and compressor doesn’t turn on properly. Warranty says one year so we are out $320 because to replace compressor and r32 is not cost efficient. Very disappointed in the warranty.

HORRIBLE

Had for 1 year and it keeps telling me to clean filter which is CLEAN. However I can't reset filter button so now it won't stay on. Over 500 for a 12000 but AC that lasted 2 summers super annoyed. Contacted customer service and was told they will issue a Goodwill credit for $100 AFTER I buy ANOTHER unit with my own money of equal value of the broken unit. Soo I'm supposed to be out of $1000 plus in 1 yr to get back $100. Worse service ever

Not worth it, GE rep even said so!

My last GE a/c worked for over 10 years, which is why I chose another GE a/c. I was very impressed when I first purchased this in 2021. It cooled fast, a little loud, but worked well! I live on the East Coast, so don't use for more than 3-4 months a year. This summer, the coils started freezing, I called and troubleshooted with representative and they said that there was nothing I could do but purchase another one. I explained that I have only had this for 2 years, and less than a year of use, and the rep suggested I purchase a non-GE A/C. What a shame! Will not be buying a GE again!!!

Wonderful window AC unit. Cools a large space well

Love my GE window AC. The app to control the device is quite nice! I set a schedule to run my AC at 75° while at work and set it to drop to 70° an hour before I return to work. It sufficiently cools a much larger space than advertised. The unit is not overly loud and does the job very well. Yesterday I had an alert through the app to clean the AC filter and the app showed me how to change the filter with a mini-walkthrough tutorial. The only thing it did not show me is how to reset the filter alarm. A simple google search informed me that all you have to do is press the word “filter” on the front of the unit that doesn’t even look like a button. Pressed it and back to normal. This AC rocks!

Poor Quality

Purchased this AC about 3 years ago. At the begining of the summer it seemed to be working OK but then started making noise after the unit ran for a little while. Air was not as cold and volume of air coming out seemed to decrease. I then noticed Ice building up on the coils. Did some trouble shooting and found out the compressor was bad. Took very good care of this product (as I do with all my things). Cleaned the filter regularly and more detailed cleaning at the end of each season.

Missing HomeKit features, old units being sold too

Can’t change the fan speed or cooling mode using Apple HomeKit. It is not a HomeKit limitation, it’s GE having a lack of care for Apple HomeKit. I have a dual inverter window AC that does not support Apple HomeKit out of the box, but when using homebridge (an app that makes non HomeKit devices HomeKit compatible) I am able to change the fan speed and cooling mode of an AC that is not even designed to work with Apple HomeKit. There’s no reason why this product should be missing those features. I do NOT want to use the manufacturer app, that’s why I bought an Apple HomeKit AC

Poor HomeKit support, watch out for outdated model

After a whole year of me using this unit I still can not change the fan speed, or cooling mode on Apple HomeKit. My LG dual inverter AC which isn’t even made to work on HomeKit has these features available on HomeKit when I use an unofficial app called “home bridge” that makes non homekit compatible appliances work with homekit. So why am I able to change the cooling mode and fan speed on a product that was never designed to work with homekit, while GE who makes one of the few ACs that are actually made to work with homekit does not have these features available.

I'd buy this one again and again. I've tried many!

Blows ice cold, I've had nothing but good experience from this window unit. It cools above and beyond what I expected. I have an apartment and the main area is about 12'X35' it cools it down and fast.... If it's breaking 100° outside it still gets to the point that we have to turn it up or off because it's becomes a refrigerator. Lastly to throw another compliment with things I've noticed, if I leave the other doors open to my apartment I'll come back home to all rooms cool. 🥶🌨️🏔️🧊🧊🌬️🧤❄️

G.E 12,000 BTU window units

Great purchase! Works amazing! This unit is ok and the price was great

Purchased this AC unit almost 1 1/2 weeks ago. Until this afternoon it was blowing ice cold and the unit was quiet. Tonight it's very nosy like a buzzing sound and the air seems to be only coming out from one side of the vent. Did not do this yesterday. We keep it set at 68 and it runs all the time because we like a cold house.husband also works from home. I am hoping what ever is going on resolves itself. It was soo cold yesterday you needed socks and today no socks needed.my house is only 840 square feet. I don't want return it so I'll give it some time before I make the call.

Great cooling and easy install for a fair price

For basic auxiliary cooling for extremely hot New Orleans summer days, this unit did everything I wanted. I am a bit disappointed in the directional control of the cool air. It seems like a better louver assembly for this task would not affect cost of manufacture by much at all. A bit more robust inner temperature seal separating hot zone from cold zone also wouldn't cost much but would make a substantial difference in quality of the finished product and probably make for quieter operation. Overall, this is a good unit; easy to install; with very effective cooling capacity when properly sized to match the job.

The air conditioner works great!

The air conditioner works great the only issue is if it is off I have to press the power button on the remote twice to get it to turn on. The app on the other hand is has issues. It was a severe pain in the butt to connect, has a delay of sorts ie the app will say its 66 degrees in the room but it's clearly hotter, but if you wait 3 to 5 minutes it will update to the current temp. And it always acts like it is loading which is probably the reason for the delay on the temp. Actual adjustments through the app like changing temp and modes are instantaneous. The remote is small light and has braille next to the buttons. All in all great a/c app needs work.

DO NOT BUY!!!

I purchased this unit yesterday and when I cut it on the sound it made, I thought it was broken fresh out the box. Turns out the roaring never go's away been up all night with this noise not to mention it won't hold a constant temp so the energy save mode is useless. GE use to have really great quality products but this has proven they are no longer what they use to be. I hope PC Richards will allow me to return this and get a better unit because this was the worst ac I've ever purchased. My last one came from your store Generations 8,000 btu still works but it's 11 years old. But for 479.00 smh this junk should be a lot better quality. Save yourself the time pass this one by. I know I wish I did.
