Pros and Cons

Product pro: good height*, flushes quietly, quickly and (so far) thoroughly. Had only 1 week so too soon to tell if the bowl is resistent to hard water buildup or stains. Came with a self close seat: seat itself is Not comfortable but have to admit it is nice that it self closes quietly. Too soon to know how long that hinge feature lasts. Product con: kind of institutional looking. This replaces a round bowl unit. So far, don't see the advantage of the elongated bowl and why that style seems to be promoted...and it costs more than the round bowl ( I bought the Drake is each style, one bathroom is too small to accommodate the longer bowl style). Flushing handle is on the side and the mechanism that controls the lever is built into the handle. Therefore the high quality handle from the old toilet (which was in the front), which matches the sink faucets cannot automatically be switched out with the provided handle. I'll have to work on solving that issue.

The tank cover is wobbly and makes noise, its not square and Toto told me to fix it myself with velcro ! Not what I’d expect on a nearly $400 toilet. I’m also changing the seat out for two reasons: the underside is not flat but has many ridges and cavities which will make it very difficult to clean. The seat is also slightly smaller than the bowl so you can’t avoid touching the bowl every time you want to lift the lid. A bit disappointed in the toilet. No comment on its performance as we haven't had it long enough. Seems to flush as it should.

Arrived Defective

Purchased and had this Toto Toilet delivered from Lowes. Delivery seemed great. The plumber noticed some chips in the porcelain tank, but since it was in the back he went ahead and completed the installation. The left bolt that connects the tank to the toilet base began to leak. The plumber said the tank may have a crack in the hole drilled for the bolt and the tank was defective. I called Lowes customer service and was told they could not send me a replacement tank, but I should call Toto. So, I made a phone call to Toto customer service and was told I should call Lowes for a replacement. So I made another call back to Lowe's customer service and was told I would need to have the plumber disassemble the entire toilet and they would take it back. I would then have to wait 24 hours to see if they are able to send me a brand new Toto toilet in exchange. Once I questioned not having a toilet and being left wondering if they will send me a new one the woman at customer service asked me to hold on then came back to the phone and told me she just looked into it and they would NOT send me a replacement toilet to just return the defective one I have ALREADY had installed. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT FROM LOWES and TOTO!! A simple exchange of the defective tank would've solved the problem. Now the plumber has to come back and take out the brand new toilet he just installed. Lowes and Toto both tried to pass me off to each other and neither were helpful. I'm left disappointed that Lowes doesn't stand by the products they sell. A complete waste of time and money from a DEFECTIVE TOTO TOILET!!!

Seat is very uncomfortable. Too much angle down toward opening (not flat enough) as seat is narrow to begin with.

I purchased two of the TOTO Drake 1.6 GPF toilets and installed them myself. I couldn't be happier. The toilets flush completely with a single press of the handle EVERY TIME. Installation was simple and this was my first time replacing a toilet. Delivery was quick. I received both tanks one day (in separate boxes) and both bowls the following day (in separate boxes). Home Depot had the best price I could find on these toilets.

What’s good? I bought a second one.

No more clogged holes from calcium build up from the ring of small holes around the bowl like other toilets. The one large hole in the bowl should ensure good flow for years. Relatively quiet fill sound, takes about 30 seconds to fill the tank after a flush.

Toilet was well-packed, delivered in good shape, assembled and installed easily, and is working well.

Needed a new toilet for a bathroom remodel. Read numerous reviews and felt frozen because of negative reviews. Decided on Toto even thought it was more expensive. Very happy with it but have only had it for 2 weeks. The tornado flush looks like a never fail system.Happy

Toto is the best!

This Toto toilet replaced an American Standard and I can tell you it's the best toilet we've ever had. It has a fast tornado flush and flushes very quickly with less water use but plenty of power. Also it came with a slow close lid which works amazing especially if you had a child in your house that lets the lid slam down, those days are over with with slow close lid. It was easy to assemble to but you need to buy your own wax seal for installation (they are typically $5-$10 dollars).

Shattered toilets

Would have been a great toilet but it came in the box shattered. I have had 2 of 3 come shattered and am waiting for the 4th to arrive and see if its broken or not. Lowes needs to figure out their shipping issues within to resolve the issue.

Royal Flush

Easy installation and flushes perfectly. I replaced a Kohler that backed up every now and then. This Toto design is modern and efficient!
